Norwegian company Cubility has introduced a revolutionary fluid cleaning system in the MudCube -- so revolutionary, that it won the OTC 2008 Spotlight on New Technology Award.
A "step change technology system" to treat drilling fluids, MudCube has the potential of replacing the flow distribution box, shale shaker, cutting dryer, de-gasser, de-silter, mud return signal and large HVAC units to remove fumes.

Using a specially designed vacuum to pull the fluids through a screen and de-gas the fluid, the MudCube continuously rotates a screen belt, ensuring that drilling fluid constantly enters in a clean screen. The technology also reduces damage to the screen by eliminating mechanical force on it, increasing efficiency while decreasing cost.
The first installation of the MudCube will be at StatoilHydro's Sleipner field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf in the North Sea. Together with StatoilHydro, Cubility is developing a center to test drilling fluids in Sandnes, Norway.
