A winner of two World Oil 2007 Technology Awards, Baker Hughes has also earned accolades for its RAM Rotatable Self-Aligning Multilateral System, winning a 2008 Spotlight on New Technology Award from OTC.
First developed for and installed on Alaska's North Slope in 2007, the RAM Rotatable Self-Aligning Multilateral System may soon be installed in the North Sea, as well as in the Middle East.

Solving the challenge of getting liners to bottom for extended-reach multilateral wells, the technology uses the HOOK Hanger platform to provide continuous rotation of the lateral liner, as well as concurrently land a completion system that mechanically supports the lateral junction.
The system provides reliable multilateral junctions for Level 3 and Level 5 completions, while offering support for, control of and access to all lateral junctions that connect cased and cemented main bores with screened or lined open-hole laterals in wells that have commingled production.
